Jewel’s Ridiculous Picture Fails (Laughing Permitted)

Hi Doll Enthusiasts! Welcome to a post that is meant for pure fun, and enjoyment!!! First of all, everyone is always praising my photography, and I want to thank you all so much for your awesome encouragement and support. ALAS! I can’t possibly take ALL good photos. Actually, out of the 100-200 photos I take on average for a single photoshoot (take THAT in) quite a few are actually not always very good (SOME ARE DOWN RIGHT AWFUL, LOL). While taking photos, however, sometimes things just don’t go perfectly. So here I am, at your mercy. Have fun reading a few of the things that go on behind the scenes of Doll Notebook, and be sure to tell me in the comments if you can relate to any of these!!!

Bug Bites!

So, I learned the hard way that some bugs actually bite! “Huh!” (*face-palm*, yes, I was being sarcastic, and I love being sarcastic, so don’t think I’m going to stop being sarcastic.) Well anyway… I now use the convenient bug spray we have for EVERY outdoor photo project. I am finally starting to use it more often. Then one day my Mom came out. I was taking the pictures for the Don’t “Leaf” Me photo story. I had the bug spray near, you know, just in case… Then my Mom asked if she could put it away, and I said I might need it. Then she told me what was written SMACK DOWN on the front of the can, that I had completely ignored before. “It lasts for 10 hours.” REALLY?! 😱 *face-palm, face-palm, face-palm* Read the can guys! You have nothing to worry about!

So I don’t know, sometimes I think I feel bugs pinching me and I look down… nothing, nada, zero. I just don’t want to be bothered!

“I AM TAKING PICTURES, NO INSECT MOVE!”

But bugs can still be a nuisance even if they aren’t biting me. So, I am wearing my bug spray, taking some excellent shots, when: Uh………….. is that a mosquito on my doll? Guys, this has happened a few times!!! It makes me smile as I think, “Sorry your not going to get any blood out of her.” So the above pic ^ is when I caught the “squito” (that’s what I like to call them, deal with it) in action. Raven was just hanging out… when Mrs. blood sucker comes for a “snack.” I am not sure why this happens, I mean… the mosquito doesn’t say to herself: “OOOOH yes, that looks like a human. Tiny… but hey, what have I got to loose.” RIGHT?! I mean, I kinda thought they had to “smell” you to find you… but what’s so pleasing in “doll” sent? AG, is there something you have been hiding from me? LOL!

Light and Dark!

The above two photos are the results of  me not paying attention to my CAMERA! 📷  So, I like to shoot on manual mode. That way I have lots of control, on lighting of my photos. When I move suddenly to a really bright situation, and I am not paying attention to my exposure bar (telling me the picture is going to be really bright) I take the picture and it is crazy light! I am so silly sometimes, I don’t even pay attention to the thing that is taking all my wonderful pics. 😜  Instead I’m anxious about the angle or the position of the doll, or I’m just tired of standing in the heat of the outdoors… etc. Same thing with the ULTRA dark pics. (Can you even tell what’s going on in the overly dark picture above… uh… have the aliens have landed? IDK.) Sometimes I don’t even notice my mistakes until I have imported my pictures onto the computer. So yeah, that happens…

HAIR EVERYWHERE

Ugh… just don’t even look at that picture of Elsa… Oh no! You did, din’t you?… *cries* Yeah, it’s bad.

Ok, I’m pretty sure almost every doll photographer has had to deal with this: THE DREADED HAIR!!!!!(This is the part where you scream and die.)!!!!!!!!!!!

AAAAHHHHH!

If your not dead, feel free to read on…

Pesky hairs, GO away! I struggle with this for like………………… almost EVERY Photoshoot of a doll with hair! How much easier would it be if the doll actually had NO FLY AWAYS EVER. But hey, if I have to deal with them, then it be best to bring a trusty spray bottle, a brush. That might help. I hardly ever do that though… LOL! Tell me if this happens to you!

Intruder Alert!!!

Having a mom and dad and 3 siblings it’s bound to happen… Intruders! It actually happened to me the other day. Here I was taking pictures, my sister blowing bubbles for “Bubbles, A Photoshoot with Grace,” When my 2 year old brother starts chasing after the bubbles, not realizing he is photo bombing. Then next thing you know…

I start taking pictures of him!

He so cute! His shirt says “Dad Rules” BTW, and it has Darth Vader on it. LOL!!! We still call him baby. Wait what was I talking about…

So yeah, Intruders…  They can get you side tracked, but who can look me in the face and say it wasn’t worth it? Look at him.

If there has to be a down side,  then the most annoying intruder is myself! That’s right folks sometimes I photobomb my own pictures! A finger here, a toe there, a knee… that kind of stuff. Whoever invented picture cropping should be given an award.

The Mid-Fall Shot

No, I don’t mean the season “Fall,” you’ll see. For some reason this usually happens to Grace, from what I can recall. Has this ever happened to you where you taking pictures and your doll suddenly starts to lean backward (or forward) as you are shooting fast? Something like this happens:

Grace doesn’t seem very stable… How is she doing that???… Oh what’s going on… Uh oh…

Ok, NOW THAT is impossible. Yes, Grace is taking levitating lessons! How did you know?!?!?!?!

Yup, this is the Mid-Fall Shot, where you catch your doll in the process of falling. When you are taking a photoshoot with an AG doll, the doll is bound to lean one way or the other. It’s their destiny. Now I just need to master my mid-fall technique, so I can make Grace a magician! No, it’s completely useless to me, except for the fact that it’s funny and makes me grin.

Ok, LOL! That was fun to make! I hope you guys enjoyed, reading about my many picture fails. Don’t get me wrong though, overall…  I LOVE taking pictures! I hope this made you smile. Definitely, tell me if you ever have any of these problems. Bye for now everyone!!! (And keep on taking amazing photos!)

Your little brother is so cute! I was grinning as I read the levitation
part. You're a really talented photographer to get a shot like that!
I agree, it always surprises me when my doll starts falling. It's
like – what the heck? how is she moving on her own? Oh . . . . urgh! Why
    can't you stay in place??!! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 Thanks for sharing!

LOL I always have those moments XD But I've never had the problem
with mosquitos trying to bite my dolls… What do mosquitos even think
when they try to bite them? Wow! this human has the hardest skin
I've ever tried to bite! I hate it when I photo bomb my own
pictures, I took a picture of Molly by a window and was super excited
about it, But when I pulled it up on my computer I had caught my
reflection in the window XD. LOL I think Grace is showing off her
    amazing balancing skills 😉

I have had trouble with all of them except the bug bites and the
mid-fall shot, I think. (Lucky me, right?

I'd LOVE if you'd leave a comment!
