The 30’s Q&A! (Answers)

Hi Everyone! HAPPY DECEMBER! YAY!!! It’s time for The 30’s Q&A Answers portion! I’m so excited! I even took cast photos! I won’t waste any time getting into this, so here we go! Throughout the post, I talk in black, and the dolls in different colors.

KIT

Hi people! Kit here! I starred in the main role of this series! I’m am so stoked to answer your questions! Let’s get to it!

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

My favorite part was being me, but in that I made some bad desisions, which I wasn’t too happy with preforming.

How does your character inspire you?

Well… I uh… OOooh! I got it! It really inspired me to have some positive self-confidence. The character was basically me, and I got so many good compliments that it really boosted my confidence in who I was as a person.

Where there any awkward moments?

HAHA! MANY! Especially, when I had to cry. FACE-PALM  That was really awkward. Not sayin’ that I wouldn’t if actually placed in the situation in real life, but this was just acting. I had to make myself cry in front of everyone!

Is your personality the same as it is in the story in real life?

Hmmm… I would say… yeah. I am actually very much like that. Jewel based my character, off of my actual personality, and I have to say she did a pretty good job. I can be very stubborn, as you saw… but, I’m also very loyal and desire to do whats right. Well, most of the time…

FROM AG DOLL DREAMS:

Is what you did in the story what you would do in real life?

Yeah, I would totally do everything that you saw. XD

FROM THE HUMAN:

Did you enjoy playing yourself?

YES! I had a lot of fun. I’m not the best actress in the world so it really helped when I could just basically act like myself.

What was your favorite part?

That would be rolling down the hill in Part Three! That was so much fun! I liked a lot of other stuff, but that was just awesome 😀

FROM MADISON:

Kit, what was your favorite part about playing yourself?

It was really easy! Being myself was so much fun because I just had to think about what I would do in a situation.

Margret Kittredge and Betty

Hello, I’m Marie Grace, and I played Kit’s mother Margret. And I’m Julie! I acted out the part of Betty, the Jewelry Store owner! We are here to answer your questions!

You can go first, Marie. Thanks!

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

I didn’t like pretending to be upset with Kit because in real life she didn’t do anything wrong, but I did like that I was her motherly. Some people say I’m like that in real life.

How does your character inspire you?

My character really inspired me to be more… well… motherly!

Where there any awkward moments?

Well… it was kind of hard when I had to do all that yelling at Kit. I must admit, Jewel had a hard time trying to get me to yell. I just kept squeaking. Finally, I got it! (To my utter relief.)

FROM MADISON:

Do you think playing as Kit’s mom fit your personality or no?

Yes, I do! Being the Kit’s mother was probably the best part to play! I don’t think I’d like to play any of the other characters.

Ok, Julie your turn!

Sweet! Thanks!

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

Nothing and Everything! Haha!

How does your character inspire you?

Uhh… she’s really nice. Which… I am…. lacking in?

Where there any awkward moments?

Yeah! Every time I was in it, it was awkward! It was crazy being someone who was not like me at all. I still think I rocked it, but the experience was… interesting.

FROM MADISON:

Were you honored to be a part of Jewel’s photostory?

To be truthful, I didn’t really want to be in a photo story. Jewel practically had to beg me to join. If anyone should be honored… it’s her.

Joan

Hey GUYS! Mckenna Brooks at your service! I AM FAMOUS! I can’t believe it! No Mckenna, you’re not famous. You just played one of the main parts in my photo series. Ugh! Fine.

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

I really liked that my character was the lead part. Mckenna! Alright! Alright! I dislike that character “wasn’t” the lead, but I liked that everyone thought she was. Ugh!

How does your character inspire you?

Joan is so sweet! I wish I were that sweet, but I can’t help myself sometimes. I’m such a prankster. Hehe.

Where there any awkward moments?

UMMM. If you call not being allowed to do a back handspring in the middle of talking to Kit then… yes.

FROM MADISON:

Was it fun for you to play the part of Joan?

Actually, yeah… It was! I had a lot of fun acting. (Joan was basically the main part, so how could I not like it?) MCKENNA!

FROM JUSTAG:

Do you consider yourself older and more mature than Kit in real life?

Oh yeah, totally! In HER head… older yes, more mature… probably not. HEY! You know Jewel, I’m still here!

Edward

Hello! It’s Caroline. I got to be… Edward…

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

Edward is kind… but he is also a boy… (I’m guessing she didn’t like playing a boy.)

How does your character inspire you?

I guess Edward is very caring and responsible. Caroline! You are already super caring and responsible. Well… I don’t know about that… but thank you.

Where there any awkward moments?

Well, I’d think it would be obvious, but can’t we call having to be a boy, awkward?

FROM MADISON:

Were you happy with the part you got?

Uhh… ehh. I mean he had a great personality but…

The Detective and Mr. Gibson

Hey all! I’m Grace and this is Saige! Hi! I played Mr. Gibson!!! I was the super awesome and amazing Detective! You first Saige! Cool!

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

My favorite part was being cruel and nasty. I disliked wearing the clothes, they didn’t even match! Please don’t laugh at my sad wardrobe (that SOMEONE picked out). Saige, it was in black and white. STILL!

How does your character inspire you?

Simple. He doesn’t. Haha! He was evil! Even though I liked acting out the part of Mr. Gibson, I still wouldn’t like to take anything from his character and apply it to my own life.

Where there any awkward moments?

THE DREADED MUSTACHE! Ugh! That thing is so awkward to wear! SO ITCHY! It’s made out of paper! So yeah, it was ALWAYS AWKWARD.

FROM AG DOLL DREAMS:

What was it like to play Mr. Gibson?

I got to yell and make mean faces, so it was really enjoyable. Except when Grace had to throw the shawl at me. She had to have multiple tries to get it right. Hehe.

FROM MADISON:

How did it feel to play the bad guy?

Ok! I’ll admit it… It was fun!

FROM JUSTAG:

How did you feel when Jewel asked you to play a mean, selfish character? Did you enjoy bossing everyone around?

At first, I was like: “WHAT?! HOW DARE YOU JEWEL?! HOW COULD YOU THINK OF ME FOR THAT?! DOES THE NAME ‘SAIGE’ SOUND IN YOUR HEAD AS ‘THE RUDE PERSON’?! NO WAY!”  Once Jewel explained things more thoroughly though, I said, “OK! I get to boss people around? That sounds cool.” So yes, I did enjoy bossing people around.

Your turn Grace!

YAY!

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

She is absolutely fabulous! I disliked nothing at all!

How does your character inspire you?

She had an excellent wardrobe. It inspires me to have Jewel buy me some more clothes! Here we go…

Where there any awkward moments?

Haha! NOT AT ALL! Every single moment was awesome.

FROM KATIE:

Did you think it was funny to throw your shawl at Saige? (I did! XD )

I might be the cruelest person on earth, but yes, yes I did. XD

FROM MADISON:

How did you like being the detective?

I LOVED IT! She was so commanding and elegant. A lot like me! In fact, Jewel, may you add that to my profile on the “Meet the AG Dolls” page?! Oh, Grace…

FROM JUST AG:

Was it fun to be mean to Mr. Gibson and throw your shawl on him?

YES! I loved it! Besides, Mr. Gibson was a mean character. He DESERVED IT! Hey! Remember that was me!

Sterling (AND Mrs. Howard)

Hi! I’m Lanie! I played one of Kit’s friends: Sterling! I also played his Mom in one of the parts!

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

I like how kind and considerate he was. My least favorite part was the “playing with the ball” scene, that I was made to do.

How does your character inspire you?

Sterling inspires me to help a friend, even in tough situations.

Where there any awkward moments?

Yeah, the playing with the ball scene was hard. I had to throw it in just the right way so Jewel could get a pic…

FROM AG DOLL DREAMS:

Did you like playing Sterling?

Yeah! He was a really great character. I got to lots of fun things, like doing cartwheels! Mckenna taught me!

FROM THE HUMAN:

How did you feel about playing a boy?

It was kind of odd, but he was a lot of fun to be, so no hard feelings to Jewel.

When you were playing with the ball did you fall over at all?

Hmmmm… I will say that Jewel is not very good at balancing me. I think I did fall once! It’s hard for us dolls when someone keeps messing with our limbs and posing us! Jewel would make me strike a pose, but she required me to keep it so long, that I had to topple over some time!

FROM MADISON:

Lanie, did you hate playing a boy?

Nah, I didn’t hate it. I am really glad to be a girl, but it was fun.

FROM JUSTAG:

How does it feel to be the only actor playing two characters?

OH YEAH! It feels AWESOME! I was so honored, but Mckenna was jealous.

Ruthie

Hello, My name is Raven, and I played Ruthie.

FROM KATIE:

What was your favorite and least favorite part about your character?

I liked how Ruthie chose to do the right thing. My least favorite thing was being a thief.

How does your character inspire you?

My character inspired me to be more outgoing.

Where there any awkward moments?

Well, yes. I had to rob a store…………. Ahem. OH! Not literally! I mean in the story…

Did you like playing Ruthie?

I suppose I did. It was difficult to perfect her character since she was much more confident than me. I had to really speak up.

FROM AG DOLL DREAMS:

What did you like best about playing Ruthie?

I liked that even though I did do something wrong, I did the right thing in the end by my own decision.

FROM THE HUMAN:

How did you feel about playing the ‘villain’?

Um… well, I wouldn’t usually choose the part of the villain myself, but I guess it worked out. I could never live with having to be someone who never changed for the better.

Did you enjoy wearing the outfits?

OH YES! I did! I loved dressing up! The only thing I wasn’t too fond off, was stuffing my hair into the hat.

FROM MADISON:

How did it feel to play Kit’s best friend? Are you her best friend in real life?

It was really fun. Kit is a great actress, and it was a pleasure to act with her. She is so imaginative. We are not exactly best friends in real life, but we are still really good ones. Kit’s real best friend is Julie, and I actually am very close to Melody.

FROM JUSTAG:

Do you feel like your friendship with Kit in real life has grown through this experience?

OH YES! I do! Kit and I got to act right alongside each other, and we got to talking a lot more. Kit is a great person.

How do you feel about being the prettiest actor on set? (to me at least XD)

OH… I… thank you…. I didn’t think… well…  She’s blushing super hard right now, guys.

JEWEL:

Ok, guys, I hope you enjoyed the doll’s ranting and if you read through all that, kudos to you!!! Now you can read my responses! LOL

FROM KATIE:

What inspired this story?

Well, I was really wanting to do a photo series after I saw some other doll bloggers doing it. Then, (I am always wanting to do something original) I was inspired by the historical dolls from AG, to come up with a photo series that takes place in a historical era. I felt the historical doll’s needed more attention. I decided to go with Kit for multiple reasons. I had more accessories for her than Caroline, I thought it would be cool to shoot in black and white as a reference to the 1930’s, and I like her better as a character.

FROM KATIE AND BELLA:

Who was your favorite character?

I really liked Sterling, but… I’m going to have to say Kit. I really did enjoy developing her personality, and I find her stubbornness so funny.

FROM MADISON:

What were your favorite, least favorite, worst, best, easiest, and hardest parts of shooting The 30’s?

OK! Let’s see… My favorite thing was writing the story. I love coming up with stories.

My least favorite part was any time I had to KEEP taking certain pictures until I got something decent. Either because of the lighting, background, making sure the boy character’s ponytails didn’t show… etc. UGH! XD

The worst part is basically my least favorite part, but I also didn’t like having to tell you guys to wait longer for some parts because I was late. 🙁 I was not very good with planning. Note to self: Plan better next time.

One of the best things was seeing everyone’s reactions! You guys have been so supportive! I loved reading all the comments!

The easiest part was coming up with the idea. I ALWAYS have made up stories in my head, so this part was pretty fun and easy.

The hardest thing was taking the pictures in “Kit’s house” because the lighting situation was not very good.

FROM BELLA:

-What is your favorite part of photographing this series? (example: dressing your dolls, doing their hair, writing the script…etc.)

OOOOOH, Ummmm… I really like “writing the script” as you said, but… the only problem is that… I didn’t write a script! I just… wrote. I’m am literally that dumb and lazy. I made the details of the story up as I went. I DO NOT recommend it since it made me late for posting parts and I didn’t have a clear idea of how the story was going to end. I had notes basically, on what I wanted to happen. Next series, I will try to take all the pictures beforehand, and I will have a lot more planning as to the layout of the story. XD

FROM AGs IN ALASKA:

Was it hard to make some of the dolls look like boys Jewel?

Well… not really. I took some advice from Samantha at AG DOLL AWESOME and brought some of the hair over from one side of their heads and bobby pinned it on the other side. Then I tied their hair in a low pony and tucked that in the back of their shirts. The hardest part was making sure none of the ponytails showed in the pictures.

FROM JUSTAG:

Did you ever have any bloopers?

YES! How could I not?! There were dolls that fell and lighting issues… Also, the picture on the wall of Kit’s living room fell down once, and I started taking pictures, not even noticing. Yep, I had to re-shoot those pics, just because I realized the picture wasn’t on the wall!

Thanks for reading everyone! I was so honored that you all took the time to read this series and I can’t wait to do more in the future!!! I have a few announcements! MY NEW DOLL CAME YESTERDAY! My sister got one too! I can’t WAIT to show you guys on Tuesday! Also, Raven is the doll of the month on Doll’N’All! So be sure to follow that! Tell me how you enjoyed this Series and its Q&A in the comments! Bye for now everyone!

-Jewel
